The Lok Sabha elections have started, and people can now nominate themselves to run for office in the first phase. This phase covers 21 states and Union Territories.

In New Delhi, the selection of people who want to run for Parliament, called Lok Sabha elections, has started for 102 areas across 21 states and Union territories. This process began on Wednesday. The first round of voting will happen on April 19. People who want to run can submit their names until March 27. This information comes from the Election Commission.

In Bihar, the deadline for people to apply to run in the elections has been moved to March 28 because of a festival. This extension applies to the first phase of voting, which covers four out of the 40 seats in Bihar.

The review of these applications will also happen on March 28, except in Bihar, where it will take place on March 30.

People who have applied to run in the elections have until March 20 to change their minds and withdraw their candidacy. But in Bihar, they have until April 2 to do so.

The Lok Sabha elections will take place in multiple stages, starting on April 19, and the votes will be counted on June 4. The first phase of voting will happen in several states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.
