In simple terms, Microsoft and Google are big players in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). They both recently introduced their own AI chatbots, called CoPilot (formerly known as Bing) and Gemini (formerly known as Bard), within a few days of each other. Since then, they’ve been making improvements to these tools. For example, CoPilot can now save chat history, respond to voice commands, edit images, and more. Meanwhile, Gemini can easily edit parts of text and create images.
What’s interesting is that Microsoft is now creating a whole new division dedicated to developing advanced AI technology. And to lead this division, they’ve hired Mustafa Suleyman, who co-founded Google DeepMind, a prominent AI research lab. This move shows Microsoft’s commitment to advancing AI technology even further.
Suleyman, who used to lead applied AI at DeepMind, shared some news on his social media account. He said he’s excited to start working at Microsoft as the head of their AI division. Some people from his startup, InflectionAI, including co-founder Karen Simonyan, will also join Microsoft. He mentioned that InflectionAI will have a new CEO and that he’s had a great time with the startup. He ended his post by saying that there’s a lot more to come.
“I’m happy to say that I’m now the CEO of Microsoft AI. I’ll be in charge of all consumer AI stuff, like Copilot, Bing, and Edge. Karen Simonyan, who’s been my collaborator for a long time, will be Chief Scientist. Some of our awesome teammates are coming along too. InflectionAI will keep going with a new CEO, and we’re going to make its API available to more people worldwide. It’s been a great journey, and there’s still much more ahead. Thanks to everyone for your support. We’re just getting started!”
